Getting to Northumbria University
By Air
The nearest airport is Newcastle upon Tyne (code: NCL), which has many national and international connections. If you cannot get a direct flight to NCL, consider coming via Brussels (BRU), or Amsterdam (AMS). It is not necessary (or even cheaper) to come through London Heathrow (LHR) which is permanently busy.
There is a metro station at the airport that goes direct to Haymarket. Ticket price is less than £3. A taxi from the airport should be less than £20.
By Rail
Central Station is the nearest main line rail connection. The station is about 15 minutes walk away from Northumbria University, or you can get the metro. There is a taxi stand outside Central Station.
Discount Rail travel is available to conference delegates. Please see here.
Metro
Haymarket metro is 5 minutes walk from Northumbria University City Campus West and the student residences.
Change at Monument to go to Manors Metro, which is opposite from Northumbria University City Campus East, where the conference sessions will be held.
By Road
Northumbria University is bisected by the A167M central motorway. This connects to the A1M for connections to the North or the South of the UK.
Parking
We are investigating use of the limited University parking facilities for delegates. Please check later for confirmation.
There is some on-road meter parking near City Campus East £0.40 per hour. On road parking near City Campus West is problematic.
